Prevent Common Oral Health Issues

With routine cleanings and oral exams, you can detect oral health issues early and prevent them from getting worse.

Save Time & Money

Preventing issues like cavities and gum disease also saves you time and money, since you can avoid treatments such as fillings and periodontal care.

Maximize Insurance

Dental insurance typically covers two six-month teeth cleanings and oral exams, so regular dental visits let you make the most of your plan.

Cleanings & Exams

Bi-annual cleanings and exams are the cornerstones of preventive dentistry. During your appointment, your hygienist will scrape away tough-to-remove plaque and tartar, buff your teeth, and floss to ensure they’re totally clean. ‍

Then, Dr. Enzweiler will examine your mouth and may take x-rays to look for hidden oral health issues, and discuss her findings with you. If she notices any issues, you may need a follow-up treatment such as a filling. Otherwise, you’ll just schedule your next six-month teeth cleaning and oral exam.

Periodontal Care

More than half of all Americans are affected by gum disease. In its first stage, known as gingivitis, this disease is reversible and doesn’t cause permanent damage. But if it’s left untreated, it will continue to progress and worsen, and can eventually cause oral infections, premature tooth loss, and other major health issues. If you have gum disease, Dr. Enzweiler can help with periodontal care treatments.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments can be done as part of any six-month oral exam and teeth cleaning at our office. Dr. Enzweiler will paint a coating of fluoride-rich gel or paste to the teeth, leave it in place for a few minutes, then rinse it away. The high level of fluoride helps attract minerals like calcium to your teeth, remineralizing, and strengthening them.

Understanding the Role of Fluoride in Dental Health

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants use a clear plastic resin that is applied to your teeth as a liquid, and then is hardened using a UV light. This resin hardens into a strong, transparent barrier. It prevents bacteria, acid, and food particles from contacting the teeth directly, which prevents cavities from forming. It’s a great option for protecting cavity-prone teeth.
